How to Launch a Card Program in Weeks, Not Months
Launching a card program used to take the better part of a year. Between bank partnerships, processor integrations, compliance reviews, and card production, most teams spent months before a single card was issued, and many projects stalled long before launch.
With modern APIs and ready-to-use infrastructure, that timeline has shrunk dramatically. Here’s what a typical six-week launch looks like with Brivex.
Weeks 1–2: Define the Program and Build in Sandbox
Start by defining the program: who the cards are for, which markets you will launch in, and how the cards will be used. From there, your developers get sandbox access right away and can create cardholders, issue test cards, and simulate transactions.
Because the sandbox APIs and webhooks mirror production, the work your team does here carries straight over to launch, and product teams can test the cardholder experience end to end before anything goes live.
Weeks 3–4: Compliance and Program Approval
Pre-approved program templates and built-in KYC and KYB flows remove most of the back-and-forth that slows traditional launches. Your team submits program details once, and Brivex coordinates the review with our banking partners.
While approval is underway, you can design your physical card, configure spending rules, and set up cardholder notifications.
Weeks 5–6: Pilot and Go Live
Most programs start with a small pilot group before opening to everyone. A focused checklist keeps the launch on track:
Issue live cards to an internal pilot group
Confirm authorization rules and limits behave as expected
Connect transaction data to your ledger or accounting tools
Train support teams on card freezes, disputes, and replacements
Once the pilot runs smoothly, roll cards out in stages and keep a close eye on authorization and decline rates during the first few weeks.
Speed doesn’t come from cutting corners. It comes from starting with infrastructure where the hard parts are already solved.

What Makes the Difference
The fastest launches share three things: a clear program scope, infrastructure that bundles issuing, processing, and compliance, and a partner that stays involved after go-live. Teams that try to assemble those pieces from separate vendors usually lose months to contracts and integration work.
Brivex was built around that approach, so your team can spend its time and budget on the product experience instead of stitching vendors together. Our team supports you through launch and beyond, from program design to expansion into new markets.
